„Perkūnas“
About

The men’s choir “Perkūnas” was formed in 1954. At the initiative of A. Čižas. The ensemble was led by well-known Lithuanian choirmasters: B. Mačikėnas, S. Serbenta, J. Strazdas, A. Viesulas, P. Jurkonis. Currently, Professor R. Misiukevičius is the head of the VMU Music Academy. During 60 years of creative activity, the choir has prepared a number of concert programs and participated in all song festivals. The Perkūnas choir is a member of the Male Choirs (TTBB) in Europe, and also closely cooperates with similar choirs from Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Germany and Switzerland.

“Perkūnas” cherishes very beautiful traditions. Every year it sings at masses in various Lithuanian churches for the dead choir leaders, choir members and their family members. At the invitation of Kaunas City Municipality, it gave several concerts in Kaunas Sports Hall – on the occasion of the International Day of the Elderly. Every year the choir organizes more than 20 concerts – in many Lithuanian cities and towns. Also in Poland, Hungary, Latvia, Germany, Estonia, Czech Republic.
